Our Story
A Little Family. A Lot of Italian Tradition.

Know Me
Every great meal has a story. Ours began in Boston, around a family table filled with homemade Italian food.
Growing up in a big Italian family, Michael McDermott learned that food was about more than just eating. It was about Sunday suppers, his grandmother's marinara, fresh pasta, and bringing everyone together.
Those memories became the inspiration behind The Place — a restaurant built on family traditions, a passion for cooking, and a love for sharing good food.

From Roseville to Placerville
Our journey began in 2011 when The Place opened its doors in downtown Roseville, California.
What started as a family dream grew into something more. In 2017, we brought the same passion for scratch-made Italian cooking to Placerville. Today, both locations share one simple philosophy: great food, warm hospitality, and a place where everyone feels welcome.
Made From Scratch, With Love
We believe great Italian food starts with great ingredients, time, and attention to detail.
From handmade pasta and house-made sauces to carefully prepared pizza dough and authentic wood-fired pizzas, we take pride in the craft behind every dish.
Some of our recipes come from generations of family cooking. Others are inspired by our passion for creating something new.
Every dish is made to be enjoyed and shared.

Real Family. Real Food. Real Italian.

Family First
Good food brings people together. We want every guest to feel comfortable, welcomed, and right at home.

Fresh & Original
We believe in cooking from scratch, honoring traditional recipes, and bringing our own creativity to the table.

The Wood-Fired Tradition
Our wood-fired pizzas celebrate the art of Italian cooking, combining handcrafted dough, fresh ingredients, and the unmistakable flavor of fire.
